Medibuntu

Linux * systems for the management of installed programs, work with the system of bins that are repository software. There are multiple repositories and everyone gathers software belonging to a certain category. There are four Ubuntu repositories:
- main, which includes open source software supported by Canonical
- universe, which brings together community-supported open source software
- restricted, which includes proprietary drivers for devices and devices connected to your computer
- multiverse, which includes software with copyright restrictions or legal reasons

addition to these repositories is You can add more: an example is the Medibuntu repository. Medibuntu (Multimedia, Entertainment & Distractions In Ubuntu) is a repository of packages that can not be included in the Ubuntu distribution for legal reasons (copyright, license, patent, etc).
Among others, two packages in particular have caught my attention: Skype and Google Earth. Of course you can install these two programs outside of Medibuntu, going on their respective websites and download the deb file. The comfort comes from the repository to install them by not having to manually manage updates to the program (check the site if there are new versions, download the update or the program again and install it). Indeed, using the repository uses the work of the community that maintains the repository itself.
